Tomorrow, March 2, is Dr. Seuss's Birthday. Today also marked the kick off of the Reading week for the schools. To celebrate we had a Dr. Seuss themed dinner. I'm so proud of myself for not just thinking of doing something fun but actually doing it! That is one of my 40x40's.
We started by dyeing boiled eggs green. This was an idea given by Shara Vawdry at Relief Society the other week. She had some fun ideas for celebrating Dr. Seuss. I really liked the idea of dyed green boiled egg shells more than trying to get scrambled eggs green- that just doesn't work or look pretty! Ashley had to go to work so she dyed an egg before she left then we finished them up.

We had pita pockets to represent "A Wocket in my Pocket". The pita's could be stuffed with tuna fish, (One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish), or "green egg" salad. The ham to go with the "Green Eggs and Ham" could be served on the side or with the salad. We had fruit by the foot to go with "The Foot Book", and decorated the tablet o match the Cat in the Hat. Emily wanted to make a fruit dip so we had that just for the fun of it. I did also put out lettuce to somewhat represent a veggie!

For family night Natalie taught us about the Holy Ghost. She talked about how in Dr. Seuss's Horton Hears a Who he heard a small sound then knew that there was life on the spec. It wasn't until the others were still and quiet that they were able to hear the voices too. Like the voices on the spec, the Holy Ghost speaks in a small voice and we need to be still to hear Him. He will comfort us, testify of all things that are true, teach us, warn us, and many other things. She challenged us to think about ways the spirit helps us in our lives and to pray for and live worthy of the guidance of the Holy Ghost.
